Diés Iraé: Plot, Themes & Supernatural Mystery
The title Diés Iraé, Latin for “Day of Wrath,” sets the tone for this dark psychological tale.
The story follows Rohan Shankar, played by Pranav Mohanlal, the son of an Indian-American architect who leads a privileged life in a posh Kerala neighbourhood.
But after the sudden death of Kani, a girl he was once close to, Rohan’s life spirals into chaos.
During her funeral, he impulsively takes her hairclip, unknowingly awakening a vengeful supernatural force.
Haunting Intensifies
Kani’s malevolent spirit begins to torment Rohan through:
- eerie hair-ruffling sensations
- the haunting sound of a chilanka (ghungroo)
- disturbing psychological manifestations
Unable to differentiate reality from hallucination, Rohan seeks help from Madhusudanan Potti, an occult expert and descendant of Kodumon Potti from Bramayugam.
Together, they attempt to unravel the truth behind Kani’s wrath—and the darkness consuming Rohan’s mind.
